We usually refer to wildlife only as animals, but wildlife is actually all forms of life that are wild, including plants and microorganisms. According to The National Wildlife Federation, a sustainable habitat for all wildlife begins with plants. A healthy natural local environment starts with a habitat with native plant species, which other forms of wildlife depend on.
Grow with the flow
Cultivating and protecting native plant habitat is vital to preserving biodiversity. Being plants, trees, flowers, all forms of flora that naturally occur in the region in which they evolved, as well as animals, they are the ecological basis upon which life depends. As landowners we have the responsibility to support wildlife and maintain a functioning ecosystem, as our landscaping choices have meaningful effects on the populations of local animals, insects, birds and their survival, as well as impact on water flows, climate and soil quality.
All flora that is native and genuine
Here at our farm we feel an amazing joy in preserving and cultivating the native flora. There’s a gratification in seeing and smelling all these plants! There are a ton of Walnut Trees and some MultiFlora Rose Bushes. There are native flowers that bloom in the springtime called Indian Paintbrush, and Phlox and Dandelion, everywhere in the woods. There are also tons of Dogwood Trees all around the farm and Autumn Olive Trees: they are wild and rampant throughout the old orchard.
Like wildflowers, you must allow yourself to grow in all the places people thought you never would.
This is the direct relationship we also have with all this Wildlife. They can only grow, flourish and fulfill their purpose in nature in the right place. The local land is key to all processes. The harmony between all living beings and the land creates amazing ecosystems and thriving environments, a form of relationship from which we are also learning from and being part of it can only make us also grow and feel complete :)
